Britex Fabrics

This project initially began as a mandatory UMB seismic upgrade to this family-run business, the second oldest retailer in Union Square.  The scope grew to include elevator and MEP systems replacement, accessibility improvements, and later interior upgrades.

The interiors had undergone various facelifts over the decades, resulting in a clash of materials and styles.  The goal became to create a unified style that reflected the store’s history and craft while improving its function.

Over 3000 Buttons

Brixtex often advertised over 3000 buttons to choose from in the 4th-floor notions department. Looking for something with a little more flair, I was shocked that for men’s coats, I only had two choices: brass or black.
